Welcome to Dunes

The peaceful and very special location of Dunes Restaurant and Kiosk, near the northern point at beautiful Palm Beach, provides a perfect setting for breakfast, lunch or dinner at this stylish but relaxed indoor and outdoor restaurant.

Opened in 2006 and seating 150 people, Dunes sits on 1200 square metres of manicured lawns and gardens between Pittwater and the Pacific Ocean with filtered views to the water through a mixture of natural Australian flora and lush palm trees.

The extensive menu incorporates the freshest produce in an innovative and contemporary variety of dishes designed by Executive Chef Stefan Leibenatus and his wife Cathie Wright. Professional service and attention, great food and a casual but elegant ambience add up to the ultimate Palm Beach dining experience, outstanding in all aspects. It’s fully licensed with BYO bottled wine.

Stefan Leibenatus understands that excellent food and the environment are of premium importance for quality dining and Dunes has both. He prepares his dishes using many local products and carefully presents meals that complement the restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere where jazz has been recently introduced on Thursday nights.

It’s only a few metres to the sandy beach with excellent safe swimming at two patrolled sections and a 50 metre child friendly pool, an ideal after lunch treat for families. Stroll around Pittwater or take a mini adventure to the nearby Barrenjoey Lighthouse, visible from the restaurant on the northern horizon.

Soapie fans would know it as Summer Bay with exteriors for Home and Away shot around here.

Avalon and Palm Beach offer good shopping and, for extra indulgence, take a seaplane back to Sydney or stay at one of the many Bed & Breakfasts, rental apartments or waterview houses available for rent via estate agents.

The adjacent Dunes Kiosk serves excellent food to enjoy in an outdoor setting under umbrellas or alternatively it’s available to take away. You can also order a glass of wine, a cold beer, good coffee and an assortment of deli food.
